Nokia N900-Features,Price and Review

Nokia has come out with a competition-killer called the N900. With Google and Apple at each other´s throats you will enjoy this smartphone. Wait till you see what all it can do.

The folks over at Nokia are running the largest cell phone network in the world. More of their phones are in the world than any other company. The Nokia N900 is the current pinnacle, the flagship for this huge part of the cellular world. It can go fast, has a great camera, and great connectivity. The operating system is open source, just like one other contender for first place in smartphones. It has enough power that it is no longer called a “smartphone” it is called a “computer” by Nokia. Are they right ? See for yourself.

The N900 came out with the ability to choose four home screens. It allows you to open a truckload of applications with its speedy processor. It delivers a fast browser experience for those getting online with its Maemo ( Mozilla ) browser. The menu is intuitive and allows you to breeze through programs intelligiently. The N900 closely resembles what a home computer does with its abilities to run applications and provide a thumbnail of the running application. You will be able to view so many things at once with the N900. Here is a short list :

  • Signal strength
  • Battery status
  • Bluetooth status
  • Shortcuts
  • General status bar

The specifications for the N900 are impressive. You get a five megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and a Tessar lens. You can tag the photos you take with whatever your heart desires. This smartphone has the WVGA rating for video. It records video in MP4 ( mpeg-4 )  format. The screen itself is 3.5 inches in size with 800 by 480 resolution. It has support for fifteen languages. The battery is 1320 mAh hours in capacity. You are given one gigabyte of application memory, 256 megabytes of RAM ( This is Random Access Memory, the type that makes your programs run quickly. ), and 768 megabytes of virtual memory. Your laptop of just a few years ago was about the same specification as this hand held wonder.

The call features are plentiful. The email features are full. You can see all your friends and enemies at the social sites like twitter and facebook at one time on the screen. The N900 uses quad band GSM, from 850 to 1900. It also uses WCDMA networks with 900, 1700 and 2100 megahertz. You have “wonderful” Wi-Fi !  This means you can save money using skype instead of your cell carrier. You have google talk and ovi chat. You are completely connected with the N900. Do not forget that you have Ovi Stores with Nokia. For some, this is superior to current store applications. Ovi stores are huge with world wide coverage.

The N900 came out last Fall, 2009. It came out with many of the things that current competitors are just now coming out with, such as high powered processors and lots of available memory. The successor to the N900 is already being made and should be out very soon. It will of course be the leader in flagship smartphones, just as the N900 was. Look for it in the Summer of 2010.
